How to Add JSON-LD Schema to Your Website
Google strongly recommends JSON-LD over microdata because it is clean, modern, and separates structured data from your visible design. Choose your framework below to install:
- • Plain HTML & Webflow:Copy the snippet with the
<script>tag and paste it inside your page's<head>tag, or just before the closing</body>tag. - • Next.js (App Router):Render a server-side script in your
page.tsx:<script type="application/ld+json" dangerouslySetInnerHTML={{ __html: JSON.stringify(schema) }} />. - • WordPress:Insert into the "Header & Footer Scripts" plugin, or paste into Rank Math / Yoast SEO custom schema blocks.
- • Shopify:Add the snippet inside
theme.liquidjust before</head>, or inside specific product/collection liquid templates.
Common Schema Mistakes That Prevent Rich Snippets
- Marking up hidden content: Google requires that questions, answers, and reviews in schema are also visible on the page to human readers.
- Missing required properties: A Product schema without price or currency, or an Article schema without an author, will fail Google's Rich Results Test.
- Outdated dateModified stamps: For high-ranking Article schema, keeping
dateModifiedaccurate signals recency and freshness to Googlebot.
